In the heart of Jalisco, Mexico, lies the world’s most perfect soil and climate for growing Weber Blue Agave. What makes this region so special? The fertile volcanic territory and the soil naturally deposited over 200,000 years ago by the once active Tequila Volcano. It is here, in the heart of the Tequila Valley, that Azuñia Tequila is created.
Azuñia Tequila starts with only perfectly aged Weber Blue Agave, which grows harmoniously for 8 to 10 years in sun-drenched fields surrounding the small town of Amatitan. Each agave plant receives naturally produced rich nutrients from the fertile volcanic earth and a regime of seasonal weather.

Many Mexicans celebrate the New Year by having a late night dinner with their families. A few dishes they might eat are Bacalao (dried salted codfish), Tamales with guacamole dressing, Frijoles a la charra (beans in a pot), Buñuelos a fried sweet tortilla desert, and Pan de campo sweet type of bread.
Another Holiday Favorite is Menudo a Mexican soup served before, after, or during the meal. I’ve included a link to a tasty Recipe.
http://mexicanfood.about.com/od/authenticfamilyrecipes/r/Menudo.htm
A few other Mexican New Year Traditions are:
a Sweet bread called Rosca de Reyes ( Three Kings Bread), is sliced and served. One piece has a coin baked into it. It is believed whomever receives the coin will be blessed with luck throughout the new year.
You should eat a grape for every chime of the clock, leading to the stroke of midnight, and make a wish for each grape you eat. Every grape symbolizes a month of the new year.
A thorough cleaning of your body, home or possessions is thought to give a new beginning to the year.
Many believe taking a walk around the neighborhood, carrying your suitcase, will bring travel in the New Year.

 Day of the Dead altar
Dayof the Dead (Dia de los Muertos), celebrated between October 31st and November 2nd, is a celebration in which Mexicans remember and honor their deceased loved ones. Though it may sound gloomy or morbid, it’s not. It’s a festive and colorful holiday. Mexicans visit cemeteries, decorate the graves and spend time there – in the presence of their deceased friends and family members. They also make elaborately decorated altars(sometimes called ofrendas) in their homes to welcome the spirits. The spirits are greeted with offerings of food and things that the person enjoyed in life. These are laid out on the altar in the family home.
With the arrival of the Spaniards and Catholicism, All Souls’ and All Saints’ Day practices were incorporated into Prehispanic beliefs and customs and Day of the Dead came to be celebrated.
The belief behind Day of the Dead practices is that spirits return to the Earth for one day of the year to be with their families. It is said that the spirits of babies and children who have died (called angelitos, “little angels”) arrive on October 31st at midnight, spend an entire day with their families and then leave. Adults come the following day.
